THE ROUTE
Colombo to Jaffna, via Trincomalee
The T4C2027 cycling fundraiser spans six days, comprising five ride days and one travel day:
- Day 1 - Setting off from Colombo, we ride to Negambo in time for breakfast (50km). From there, we travel by bus to Dambulla.
- Day 2 - From Dambulla, our cycle route takes us northeast to the azure waters and golden sands of Trincomalee (114km), where we will stay for two nights.
- Day 3 - The next leg of the ride is a loop around to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa and back to Trincomalee (125km).
- Day 4 - We pedal north to Kilinochchi via Vavuniya on the most demanding stretch of the ride (194km).
- Day 5 - The final ride day sees us heading into Puttur (70km). Today's destination is the reason for our fundraising ride: St Luke's Methodist Hospital.
- Day 6 - Leaving Puttur, we return to Colombo by bus.
That's over 550 kilometres of cycling in five days...and plenty of opportunities to savour the delights of Sri Lanka.
