Ceremony of Blessing Initiates the Ground Breaking Work

Jaffna, May 2026

Work has officially begun on the St Luke's Methodist Hospital restoration project.

The Methodist Church held a small ceremony and blessing - attended by representatives from the Methodist Trust Association, the architect, the building contractor and members of the community - as the site was handed over to the contractor for the commencement of phase one of the undertaking. This first stage involves the reconstruction and equipping of the Outpatients Department and the Emergency Treatment Unit of the Puttur hospital.

Trek4Ceylon expresses a heartfelt thank you to all our riders, donors, supporters, and sponsors for making this possible. We cannot wait for you to see the progress and the transformation of the hospital when you return to ride with us in 2027.

Hospital Reconstruction Process Begins

May 2026

Following the fundraising cycle rides of 2025 and 2026, Trek4Ceylon is delighted to announce that the reconstruction process at St Luke’s Methodist Mission Hospital, in Puttur, is about to commence. The necessary paperwork was signed at the Institute of Architects in Sri Lanka by the charity, the architects and the building contractors.

Funds from Trek4Ceylon's 2027 ride will be used to renovate the hospital's main building, and to purchase any necessary equipment, so that daily Outpatient Department (OPD) and Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU) services can be offered to the community. Any surplus funds from the ride will be carried forward to finance the next stage of the renovation process.

We are so grateful to everyone who has supported and contributed towards this project.

Cycling Sri Lanka is More than Sport

March 2026

Trek4Ceylon’s annual charity bike tour of Sri Lanka has become a fixture in the island’s social calendar and yet the ride is so much more than a cycling challenge. The funds collected through the 2025 and 2026 rides are benefiting St Luke's Methodist Hospital, with the charity committed to restoring the hospital's buildings in order to recommence hospital services, and also to provide primary care functions.

“A cross-island bicycle ride like this is just a huge showcase for Sri Lanka, for its landscape, wildlife and beauty, but ultimately for its people” said David Rasiah, Trek4Ceylon's co-founder and ride organiser.

No Ordinary Cycle Tour

Puttur, Jaffna, February 2026

After five days and over 500km in the saddle - not to mention a huge dose of determination, passion, laughter and spirit - the Trek4Ceylon 2026 Tour of Sri Lanka crossed the finish line in Puttur, Jaffna.

We are so proud of our amazing riders, representing 11 countries, who rose to the challenge and accomplished so much. To date, we have collectively raised LKR 30 million towards our target of LKR 40–50 million to restore St Luke's Methodist Hospital.

A special thank you goes to our partners, sponsors, donors, drivers, police, medics, ride captains, marshals and everyone else without whom this cycle ride would not have been possible.

Cyclone Ditwah Disaster

Sri Lanka, November/December 2025

Cyclone Ditwah devastated Sri Lanka in late-November/early-December 2025, being one of the island's worst natural disasters. Hundreds lost their lives, many more are still missing and entire communities have been displaced.

We are grateful to all those involved in the immediate and continuing relief effort. Thank you to everyone who joined Trek4Ceylon in donating meals to sustain the call centre staff at the Disaster Management Centre in Colombo. The team of appoximately 100 volunteers worked tirelessly to provide 24/7 support to the victims of the disaster.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with all those affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
